How do I view EXIF data on a photo?
Drop the photo on this page. The EXIF metadata (camera, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, capture date, GPS location) is stored inside the file itself, and your browser reads it directly. Nothing is uploaded and there is nothing to install.
Does this EXIF viewer upload my photos?
No. EXIF lives inside the photo file, so your own browser reads it on your device. The photo never touches our servers, which also means there is no size limit worth worrying about and no daily cap.
Can EXIF data show where a photo was taken?
Yes, if the camera or phone saved GPS coordinates. This viewer shows the exact latitude and longitude with a map link, and flags it plainly, because a photo you post can reveal your home, school, or workplace. Checking before you share is the whole point.
Why does my photo have no EXIF data?
Most social apps strip metadata on upload: photos saved from Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp usually arrive clean. Screenshots never had EXIF to begin with. And some export tools offer a "remove metadata" option that was switched on. An empty readout here is a fact about the file, not an error.
How do I remove EXIF or location data before sharing?
On iPhone, share a photo and tap Options, then turn off Location. On Windows, right-click the file, Properties, Details, "Remove Properties and Personal Information". Screenshots and most social uploads also strip it. This viewer is read-only; it never edits your file.
What camera settings are stored in EXIF metadata?
The classic exposure triangle (shutter speed, aperture, ISO), plus focal length, lens model, flash, metering mode, exposure compensation, the exact capture date and time, and the camera make and model. Pro photographers read EXIF to reverse-engineer a shot they like.
Does the EXIF viewer work with RAW or HEIC files?
JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and WebP read fully. RAW formats built on TIFF (DNG, CR2, NEF and others) usually read too, since they share the same metadata layout. HEIC is not supported yet; convert to JPEG first and the metadata carries over.
Can I check EXIF data on my phone?
